چکیده

A 73-year-old male presented with jaundice and severe muscle weakness. He was diagnosed with distal cholangiocarcinoma and paraneoplastic necrotizing autoimmune myopathy (NAM). Treatment of NAM consisted of dexamethasone pulse therapy, prednisone, and single-dose intravenous immunoglobulin. The distal cholangiocarcinoma was resected through a total laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy. After hospital discharge, muscle strength initially increased postoperatively; however, pneumonia resulted in the deterioration of his general condition and death 5 months after the diagnosis of paraneoplastic NAM.

Signal recognition particle immunoglobulin g detected incidentally associates with autoimmune myopathy

INTRODUCTION Paraneoplastic autoantibody screening of 150,000 patient sera by tissue-based immunofluorescence incidentally revealed 170 with unsuspected signal recognition particle (SRP) immunoglobulin G (IgG), which is a recognized biomarker of autoimmune myopathy. Of the 77 patients with available information, 54 had myopathy. We describe the clinical/laboratory associations. METHODS Distin...

Paraneoplastic Necrotizing Myopathy with a Mild Inflammatory Component: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Inflammatory myopathies such as dermatomyositis and polymyositis are well-recognized paraneoplastic syndromes. Little is known, however, about necrotizing myopathies in association with cancer. We here describe a case of paraneoplastic necrotizing myopathy with a mild inflammatory infiltrate in a patient with adenocarcinoma. After the rapid development of a severe, disabling muscle weakness, th...

Paraneoplastic necrotizing myopathy associated with adenocarcinoma of the lung – a rare entity with atypical onset: a case report

INTRODUCTION Inflammatory myopathies (such as dermatomyositis and polymyositis) are well-recognized paraneoplastic syndromes. However, paraneoplastic necrotizing myopathy is a more recently defined clinical entity, characterized by rapidly progressive, symmetrical, predominantly proximal muscle weakness with severe disability, and associated with a marked increase in serum muscle enzyme levels....

Dermatomyositis in a Patient with Cholangiocarcinoma Detected by an [(18)F]-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography Scan.

Cholangiocarcinoma with paraneoplastic dermatomyositis (DM) is extremely rare, and the whole body positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) finding of paraneoplastic DM is rarely reported. We report a 66-year-old woman with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma, initially presented with bilateral proximal muscle uptake on PET-CT without clinical muscle symptoms. The initial interpretati...
